Grayton Beach was founded in 1890 by Army Generals William Miller and William Wilson.
Once upon a time, Grayton Beach was isolated from the rest of the world by narrow, sandy roads running through forests. Until 1930, there were no bridges across the Choctawhatchee Bay.

But Grayton is still 30A’s vintage beach village – it’s beautiful – and is enclosed by Grayton Beach State Park on both sides; this preserves the town’s extra-wide beaches, large sand dunes and small-town feel.
In Grayton, driving on the beach, fishing, and living a relaxed lifestyle have become a tradition. Grayton’s motto, “nice dogs, strange people,” refers to a time when there was said to have been more “resident” dogs in town than people. But Grayton Beach real estate is for everyone.
