It grew from the beach. Seaside Florida founder Robert Davis knew the area well from family vacations in the 1940’s. Perhaps Seaside was realized in Robert’s mind, while daydreaming of those simple days.
Eventually, Davis collaborated with Miami architects Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk to plan a beach community, modeled after a small town, that would revive a building tradition representative of Old Florida: creating wooden cottages accommodated to climate in such a way they encouraged community life at the sea.
Founded in 1979, Seaside Florida was the first New Urban community built from the ground up, and is the cultural hub of Northwest Florida. It was the choice location for the 1998 film, The Truman Show, starring Jim Carrey and Ed Harris.
Seaside Florida Florida offers a rare opportunity for small town life. Cottage homes, guest cottages and condos are for sale and for rent. Old Seagrove Beach and WaterColor neighbor Seaside, enhancing its quaint urban feel year round.
